A collection of Ickle Peevsie up-close shots! I'm trying a slightly different format with these photos, including some information about the costume along with the photos (rather than just a gallery). If you'd like more information about the cosplay itself, I highly recommend checking out the main page for my Peeves cosplay! Much of this design was inspired by the interpretation of Peeves in the Harry Potter computer games of old. I omitted a bunch of the patchwork details due to time constraints and because this costume is already pretty ugly to begin with (by design, of course)! I purposefully made this costume somewhat androgynous; while I wear a wig, heels, and corset, I do my makeup in a decidedly un-feminine manner. I enjoy confusing people like that. This set was shot by Man of the Fields Photography, and edited by me! Of Millinery & MakeupWe're starting from the worst and getting progressively better. Namely, we start with the hat. I am not proud of this hat. It is possibly the worst costume piece I have ever made. I made it at 3AM before I wore this costume. It has warped seams made of unstabilized stretch velvet and sadness, and it barely stays on my head. It's stuffed with plastic bags. The yellow contrasting thread on the edge is uneven and was sewn with incorrect tension settings. BUT IT GETS THE POINT ACROSS. And it jingles a bit. What else could a poltergeist ask for? The makeup is a base of blue Mehron Paradise Paint, and shadows and highlights are done with eyeshadows! All black solid lines (and the lips) are gel eyeliner, and I like to use red contacts for an extra freaky ghost-like look. Front & CenterNext up, the front of the jacket! I used McCall's 2172, basically with no alterations. The velvet is was repurposed from some of the ugliest nightgowns I've ever come across; I still cringe thinking about them from time to time. Huge, shapeless lumps of cheap velvet monstrosities that look more like choir robes from the 70s. Gotta love those thrift store finds! Unfortunately, the velvet was stretch fabric so I had to heat'n'bond it to a woven fabric to keep it from distorting when sewing/pinning/wearing/etc. The jacket isn't boned (after all, it goes over a corset), but the topstitching around the seams adds quite a bit of sturdiness! The fitting isn't the *best* but whatever. I made this in two weeks. xD Cappin' it OffOne of the "features" of the abhorrently ugly nightgown was this smocking pattern. I figured it would make a great cap sleeve detail for the shoulder! I did *not* heat'n'bond this part to the base woven fabric as I did the other velvet, as the iron would have changed the visual appeal of the design. I had *just* enough fabric to finish the sleeves (and it took some very creative cutting to ensure that I did)! Coattails? More like Float-Tails!I used aluminum armature wire sewn into the lining to make the tails stand up of their own accord! Unfortunately, it gets bent out of place really easily, so if I accidentally sit on it or bump into something, I have to spend 5 minutes making them look presentable again. It's a small price to pay for having a floaty butt, though. Bowtie Blues (Actually, yellows)One of my favorite accessories in the game design is Peeves' obnoxious yellow bowtie, which was probably based on the orange revolving bowtie he wears to Nearly-Headless Nick's Deathday party. What I made isn't a *true* bowtie, mostly because I don't know how to tie bowties properly. Instead, I took a length of yellow plaid ribbon and some scrap yellow satin and sewed it up! It closes with a standard hook & eye clasp. Fancy FeetLet me be clear: I absolutely LOVE these boots. I picked them up at a garage sale for $20 back in college and they have been worn for 3 distinct costumes, including this one. They're just so fun and steampunk-y! The socks are two pairs of layered thigh-high (well, knee-high on my 5'9" frame) socks that I picked up at JoAnn's during a fabric run. The stripy, sorta-clashing socks just SCREAMED Peeves to me almost as loudly as Peeves would actually scream into the years of unexpecting first-years. That's it for the Peeves details! What costume detail photos should I do next? Let me know via Patreon message or dropping a line into my Suggestion Box!
