I'll be honest: I love being a villain. And there are few villains with as much character as Regina, the evil queen from Once Upon a Time. She's vengeful, she's misunderstood, her heart is black and twisted, yet all she wants is to be loved. Not to mention she has a ton of incredible costumes.

It was hard to choose just one of her rich, extravagant looks, but in the end I decided to go with the classic look from the first two episodes. Because feather cape.
Construction notes
  • Clothes
The jacket was made using McCall's 6818 as a base out of a black brocade satin from OnlineFabricStore.net. The collar was additionally covered in a glittery fabric to simulate the beading in the show. Unfortunately, the glitter had worn off after a few wears!
  • The cape is a black chiffon, french seamed, with the edges painted in white fabric paint. This also seals the edges, preventing fraying. 100+ bundles of feathers were sewn to the fabric, and a rhinestone was glued onto the top of each bundle with E6000.

The corset was purchased off of Amazon. I removed all the frilly bits with a seam ripper for accuracy!

The pants were also purchased off of Amazon. I glued feathers to the corset with more E6000.

  • Wig
The wig is a black 40"/100cm wig from eBay that I pulled up into a ponytail. I butchered another of the same wig for wefts and made a "hair donut" bun that went over the ponytail. The donut started as a food container that had the bottom cut out. The extra wefts were glued over the base. Then the bun was wrapped in lace to prevent flyaways. An extra ponytail from Arda was attached to the wig ponytail to add fullness and length.

  • Accessories
    - The necklace is a gemstone from JoAnn laced with a piece of velvet ribbon.
    - The lace pieces are cut out from JoAnn nonstretch lace and attach to the forehead with bobby pins and fashion tape
    - The boots are from my closet.
