Garden State Comic Fest Round-up

My first Garden State Comic Fest was in 2015, two years ago, and I was really excited to return! GSCF, held in Morristown, NJ, has a really chill, mature environment, the guests are high quality, the vendors are unique, and they always put on a really great show.

It's the only con I've ever heard of that's held in an ice rink, which is a convenient way to beat the July heat! They've recently expanded their programming to include cosplay ice skating, a two-hour event where cosplayers get to skate around in their costumes. It's pretty great.

This year's lineup was Dexter on Saturday and Art Nouveau Meg on Sunday. While not comic book inspired costumes, Dexter is always a crowd-pleaser (especially with Queen Ally Cosplay as my Deedee!), and I wanted to compete in the cosplay contest with my newly-revamped Hannah Alexander Meg.

Highlights

• Making the ugliest possible faces as Dexter
• Nearly falling on the ice because of the ill-fitting skate rentals still counted as being in character
• I learned how to spin! And my Dexter coat is GREAT for spinning <3
• Late-night sushi, wine, and froyo with friends absolutely hit the spot
• Winning "Best in Show" in the costume contest, AND a copy of Becka Noel's tutu pattern!
