And oh boy, did I have to do a lot of pinning and editing. I’m so glad I made a mock-up of the bodysuit first. Here’s a quick rundown of all the alterations I had to make to the original pattern:
Always do your mockups, kids. I would have been devastated if I cut directly from the pattern and ended up with an uncomfortable, ill-fitting suit made of $40/yard, hand-dyed fabric. This was the worst initial mockup I've ever made, ya’ll. I didn’t even take a proper full body picture because the fit was so off. My boobs were squished, I had the dreaded cameltoe, and the back seam was stretched straight up from my hip line to my shoulders, completely obscuring the curve in my spine. Pictures would just be indecent. But after making a new pattern with all the added alterations, mockup #2 fit much better! It's still not perfect; there’s a little bit of pulling on the back side pieces I can’t quite figure out how to fix. I’m calling it good enough for this bodysuit, but will probably make a few more alterations the next time I use this particular pattern.
